It’s getting lighter!
Up to now we've been pleasantly surprised with the pace of the race, some great reaching right at the mark all last night, but we have now found some light headwinds that are bound to slow things down and mess up the order.
After a very exciting start we chose the left (wrong) side of the fleet and nicely dug ourselves a hole. All that homework that we did in the days prior didn’t t exactly bear fruit. But we dug in and the attitude on the boat was great and we began our comeback. Up to what I believe is second right now sitting here watching the radar but there are about a thousand boats on the screen and it is tough to figure out who is who. Brasil continues to be very impressive in the light upwind conditions. Their new genoa for the last leg has proven to work wonders. As for the rest of us, it is a mixed bag of sheering winds right now and thick fog. Haven’t seen another boat for hours. The next sched should be interesting.
One thing is for sure right now. The weather is very difficult to predict. Over 60 degrees from where it is predicted to be.
Very much looking forward to family and friends and the anticipated reception in Gothenburg. Need to get through this minefield of light air first and not fall off a cliff. This is going to be a long day I have a feeling.

PS : As per my last note sent about 10 minutes ago... I was wrong. The sheering this morning was worse than I thought and ABN 2 and the Australians have sheered to weather a bunch. Still a long race. KR
