Back to racing mode!

It has been a nice spectator fleet out there, especially considering the weather conditions but as we all know this is more the normal weather in the North Sea .

We had a good start, tacking just after the gun and staying closer to the beach than the others. The wind went to the left earlier than we expected and soon we were heading to the next waypoint making the others lay a bit and sail lower. After most of the fleet was on our transom line the wind went to the right again and with the proximity of the Dutch islands and banks we had to tack offshore a little.

Visibility was less than 2 miles and we noticed several echoes on the radar near Amsterdam access channel. We thought they were anchored ships but when we got closer we saw these massive wind turbines having their blades installed, all in such a straight line that when we passed below one all the others were perfectly hidden. It’s amazing how these countries anticipate and prepare themselves for future energy sources, also there is normally plenty of wind in this area and the fact that their small land is already crowded with these turbines. the only option is to install them on the sea.

Wind is still blowing in the 10 knots region and hope it stays like this as prediction says it will be lighter.

All is well in Brasil 1 and all crew is anxious to get to Goteborg.

regards,

Horacio Carabelli
