Bouwe Bekking, Skipper

I have been ‘playing’ doctor for the last 36 hours together with my colleague doctor Jono (Swain).

I have been always fascinated regarding this job of being a doctor. No kidding, not a easy job, especially when you see that the guy is in pain.

Obviously the shoulder wasn’t real broken or dislocated, as there was movement possible. So we asked him (Laurent Pages) to take off his shirt, to compare the normal shoulder against the ‘damaged’ one, as that is an easy way to see if there are any differences, for no knows like me.

Luckily not anything significant, not even big bruising to see. So what to do: we got some very strong painkillers in our medical kits, but also Laurent agreed to keep it the minimum, as they can have a bad impact on the stomach.

You think you can fix one issue, but then creating another one is not handy, especially since Laurent is not very mobile, and a trip to our loo is a big effort. He has reacted well on the medication, but honestly I am afraid that he might have a small fracture, or even a little chip or the bone broken off.

We will keep a close eye on him and keep you updated.

Talking of our ‘loo’ ... I used it yesterday for the first time that I have been sailing on this boat, and can see why the guys like to us it: It is a glamour. You are locked against the side walls and you can rap your arms around the mast, no chance that you get launched off it.

We gybed last night, finally we are getting North, not that it has been very cold, but rather prefer the flying fish above the albatrosses, even how pretty they are.

It will warm up very soon, and I can imagine that in a couple of days I prefer again to see the Albatrosses, the grass is always greener at the neighbours.

Cheers,

'Doctor' Bouwe
